New Show in the Works

6/2/2019

Hello Friends!

I'm delighted to announce my first Work in Progress performance of my new show:

Dylan Dodds and Friends (Friends not included)

The show is inspired by my quest to watch all of 90s sitcom Friends™ in real time over ten years.

It's currently 45 minutes long and, seeing as no-one wants to hear me talk about myself for that long, it's also about cats and dogs, the sit-com Friends™, and sex toys.

The show is currently FREE and you can reserve tickets here

(8) Jazz be good to your self... (8)

Oh yerh, Jazz Comedy is back!

It's the worlds only comedy show where acts perform over live jazz. Exciting!

Dylan will be hosting each show on the first Monday of the month at The Gunners Pub in Finsbury Park. That renowned bastion of Jazz...

So come on down and see the finest young comics test their wits against the pounding rhythms of a man who has no right to sit behind a drum kit.

Dylan that is, I'm talking about Dylan.

Thanks for reading,

Dylan

Dylan will no longer be running Famous First Words Open Mic, as he has sucked all the marrow from it's bones and will now be moving onto bigger things.

Where he will promptly be eaten by a much, bigger fish.

Stay tuna-ed...

A Not So Hostile Takeover

3/12/2016

Dylan is delighted to be taking over Famous First Words at the Gunners Pub, Finsbury Park from December. So far this takeover has not been hostile, but given it's proximity to the Arsenal grounds anything could happen.

The show will run every Monday and, in the true spirit of Torn to Ribbons, line-ups will be mixed and open to all! Stand-up, sketch, musicians, magicians, poets and "other". ALL ARE WELCOME.

Ever watched Live at the Apollo and thought "I could do that. Easy"?

Got a poem you just have to get off your chest?

Think you're the next Justin Bieber? (he's down with the kids, right?)

Then why not pre-book your slot by messaging the Facebook page. Alternatively, walk up on the night if you're feeling frisky.

Also keep your eyes peeled exciting developments away from the open mic side of things next year...

Dylan Dodds - Now Available on Youtube

If a joke is told in the forest does anyone hear it?

It turns out the answer is no. Dylan has stopped performing in forests now and returned to the seedy underbelly of Open Mic Comedy (NB. Not THE Underbelly™).

But, much like the forest, few people hear jokes on the open mic scene either. With that in mind we have uploaded a video of Dylan doing some of his less steal-able material to the interdewebs.

Which you can see and share here

Upcoming Shows Added to Website

Word has just reached us that Dylan Dodds has finally laid his character creation "PC Vicar" to rest and will now be striking out beyond the world of new material and open mic nights to deliver some "top notch comedy" (his words).

To celebrate we've added a Gig List section to the website which will, errm, list Dylan's upcoming gigs.

Not a comprehensive list by any means, it aims to present a selection of the "must see" shows (again, Dylan's words) over the coming months, where Dylan will performing for seven, ten and even fifteen minutes at a time!

The list will be updated periodically (assuming promoters still book him) so do check back every now and then for updates!

Comedy Single-handedly Solves Homelessness

Well not quite... but we are happy to announce that 'Crisis at Christmas Charity Comedy Fundraiser' (with our resident comedian Dylan Dodds compering) raised £101 for homeless charity Crisis!

Dylan would like to extend a huge thank you to all the acts who performed and to all the punters who came, donated and (most importantly) laughed at his jokes. He adds "I was going to start a charity myself for homeless beavers, but no one gave a dam".

The idiot.

If you couldn't make it there's still time to donate to Crisis and make a huge difference to someone's Christmas.

The venue were also very happy with the turnout so stay tuned to see if another stand-up show runs there in the future!

Dylan will be MCing a charity gig in Watford on Sunday 20th December.

'Crisis at Christmas Charity Comedy Fundraiser' - easily abbreviated to CaCChCoF (pronounced CraKChCough) - will be raising funds for homeless charity Crisis.

The gig will be at Fresh Shop in Watford (2 Market Street, Watford, Hertfordshire, WD18 0PD) who have an excellent selection of cakes and drinks available to go alongside your comedy.
Doors are at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8 and will be done by 10.30.
Tickets are available on the door for five English pounds.

Other than Dylan the gig features some of our favourite Comedians, so it promises to be a fantastically hilarious evening!

These include:

Tom Ward
2014 BBC Radio New Comedy Award - Finalist
New Act of the Year 2014 - Finalist

"He was amazingly assured, improvising with the audience when he spotted a man who was maybe too relaxed in the crowd. There was certainly plenty of originality here, leading the crowd in one direction before taking sharp verbal detours."
- Bruce Dessau (Evening Standard & Beyond The Joke)

Jon Long

A regular MC at a number of venues across the country, has performed at the London Comedy Store, and both the Brighton and Bath Komedia.

TRIGGER WARNING: May include Ukelele

Ian Lane
New Comedian Of The Year 2014 - Finalist

"Ian Lane is an exciting new comedian doing inventive, unique routines [...] He is an irresistibly bookable alternative comedian." Bobby Carroll, Comedy Knights

Candy Gigi
2014 Malcolm Hardee award for comic originality - WINNER

"Her force-of-nature performance is as close to a mental health case study as you could get, raging incomprehensibly and acting (apparently) uncontrollably." Steve Bennett, Chortle

Ed Day
So You Think You're Funny 2015 - Third Place

"Probably the most relaxed act of the night [...] ingenious visual gags" Jay Richardson, Chortle

Andy Barr
“Plus Andy Barr” – Laugh Out London

A few other acts are yet to be announced so keep your eyes open for more news on this front...

You can join the Facebook event here

If you can't make it please consider donating to Crisis anyway

What an Eyesore

We're delighted to add a new web-comic to our growing roster of talented creators!

This one's in the comedy section as it aims to satirise the attitudes of a certain section of the British public. You know, those ones more concerned with their possessions and prejudices than their common man. And facts.

It's creator describes it as “A webcomic dedicated to all those that complain about things that are not real whilst ignoring things that are."

You can check out the first three over here. Make sure you check back in two weeks time for the next one!

Peace,

Ribbons

Dylan is Writing New Material

8/11/2015

Following his first sojourn to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (see here) Dylan achieved his first paid gig with his finished Edinburgh set "Google and/or McDonalds". As this was a great success he decided to take two months off performing to cool down a bit, and to draw together some new material.

He is now road testing that material in various hovels across London and hopes to have his new set - tentatively titled "Watford/Racist" - complete by the end of the month.

Then in December he will be getting into the Christmas spirit by working on another new set: "Unemployment".
